The OQH was an early pioneer of what we now think of as a modern pub. The mismatched furniture, the corners of taxidermy, the battered but charming decor; all have been present for around a decade. The interior is no longer a novelty but the place still holds its welcoming, bohemian atmosphere.
A short menu of cask beers is bolstered by kegged and canned brews. Otherwise, there's a decent stab at a wine list and an £9.50-a-go cocktail menu (with some interesting takes on classics, like the gingerbread sazerac).
Food is of the burgers and hot dogs persuasion, thanks to a kitchen takeover by Lucky Chip. Get the hot wings to start — they're frankly amazing. You can even order a serving of Oreo ice cream to finish. The function room upstairs is a decent size, perfect for groups of up to 50 (and the first ever Londonist quiz, back in the Noughties). It's also used for regular live events, including gigs and some superb comedy acts.
Quiz night is Tuesday. On Facebook. On Twitter as @OldQueensHead. On Instagram.
