The Black Lion

A Brighton institution favoured by both clued up locals and Brighton visitors looking for excellent food and great music selections - The Black Lion, just one block away from the beach in the heart of Brighton's Lanes, is a pub that can be as laid back as it can be raucous.

Found on Black Lion street (funnily enough), the pub has been around since its days as The Black Lion Brewery in the mid 1500s. Now, with its people-watching-friendly front terrace, deceptively large beer garden, local artwork and murals and friendly, speedy service, it's a great all rounder every day of the week. The Black Lion has changed greatly over the centuries, yet still manages to maintain that local boozer charm, whether you're there on a weekend for their DJ nights of hip hop, funk, soul, ska & indie, to a quick tipple and some food with a live band during the week.

Sunday roasts always draw a crowd at The Black Lion, where hearty classics are made using locally sourced ingredients. But what about something of the liquid variety? Whilst The Black Lion boasts a cool selection of local craft beers and ales, there's a cracking cocktail surprise in store too. From famed classics and signature concoctions to the best Bloody Marys in the city, The Black Lion has all your booze bases covered.
